Over the years, I have been blogging but paid little attention to podcasting.
Podcasting is an audio form of blogging where one can disseminate information immediately to thousands of people at the same time. Podcast creation is where you can share your ideas, report news, share beauty and fashion tips, among others.
In 2019, I chanced upon something on my Gmail. It was about Anchor podcast. I checked it out and I liked it. So I immediately signed up and started posting my updates for listeners. I must admit, podcasting has been an interesting journey for me. I mostly talk about dating, education and I report news sometimes on my podcast. It is amazing to notice my podcast ranks number one in Ghana on the Entertainment news category. The podcast has ranked in Germany, Poland, Italy, Australia etc. and it is currently ranking in New Zealand. How fascinating to notice I am been heard in other countries through podcasting, just like blogging. Podcasting creates an international and expanded audience for you. If you are interested in podcasting and want to try and start a podcast, please follow the step below:
Firstly, log on to any of these podcast platforms Anchor, Podbean, Buzzsprout, and sign up for an account.
Secondly, after signing up for an account, post your first episode. At least your first five episodes should be something relating to your niche be it entertainment, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, among others.
Again, draw a plan by bringing some form of uniformity to your scheduling of episodes. Do you plan on posting every day, twice a week, three times a week, or four times a week etc. let it show so your followers and listeners start to keep notes as to when to expect new things from you.
Also, Be Consistent. As the saying goes, Consistency is Key. As you keep been consistent with your podcasting, the more trust you gain from your followers and listeners, and the more experience you become at podcasting. It makes you a better one with great strategies.
Again, share your podcast on social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, among others. You can gain a large organic traffic from social media platforms. Ask your followers and friends to reshare your post for you as well.
Owning a podcast has several benefits. Podcasting can help one to become a better radio host or presenter. It helps you to become great with your speaking skills. It perfects your speech skill. Podcasting also enable introverts like myself to be confident and do something we would not have been able to do. For example; an introvert who finds it difficult to become a television presenter because of being shy on camera can easily sit behind a console and speak an audience through podcasting.
Looking at the various podcast platforms, let us delve into each of their amazing features. Anchor is a very cool podcast platform. That is the hosting platform I use. Anchor podcast comes with some cool features. On Anchor, one can record, edit and post audios. You can also go direct with colleague members or friends on Anchor and have a session or talk.
On Podbean, you can go direct by yourself unlike Anchor. Podbean allows you to go talk individually with your fans just like on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter among others. Podbean has a direct and paid platform. You are limited in so many ways with the direct session unless you pay monthly, then you will get to enjoy all its seemingly benefits.
Buzzsprout is currently the most popular podcast platform. It has a very large audience and have several features Anchor podcast and Podbean does not have. Buzzsprout offers a direct and paid platform. With the direct platform, your episode will be deleted after sixty days but if you are a paid customer, your episode will be available permanently.
When I first started podcasting in September 2019, I did not know my whereabouts. I did know how to generate strategies to create a loyal fan base. I began to do more research podcast creation. As I kept reading and getting in-depth knowledge about podcasting, as well as being consistent with my updates, I became good at it.
Ten years ago, as more and more people were signing up for blogs, creating blogs, hardly did majority ever thought to check out podcasting too. Few people around the Globe were into podcasting years ago but today, things have changed. We now have thousands of the world populace who are into part-time and full-time podcasting.
One interesting thing about podcasting is the ability to record whatever topic you want, edit it and post at your own time. Going directly on Podbean is very exciting and interesting because you get interact with your listeners at the same time as you send your messages to them.
